The Defense Health Operation of Leidos is currently looking for a Statistician to support Audiology Research within the Submarine Medicine and Survival Systems Department at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT.  NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate shall:

• Be responsible for statistics in support of research in the behavioral, psychophysical, physiological, and acoustic domains.

• Provide technical expertise towards the design (e.g., statistical modeling) of research projects.

• Formulate, implement, and execute statistical analysis plans for projects and proposals.

• Generate creative and novel data reduction and data analysis solutions for experimental results.

• In preparation for national conferences, meetings, and/or briefings, the Statistician will contribute their professional input to documents used for such conferences, meetings, and briefings, and will present findings at same.

• Travel to support presenting the projects both CONUS and OCONUS, so a valid passport (or the ability to obtain one) is required.

• Responsible for documenting all their work (i.e., in manuscripts, technical reports, technical memorandums, posters, laboratory notebooks, and documentation binders).

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (with 7+ years experience) or Master’s degree (with 5+ years experience) in Statistics or in a science field with extensive experience in Statistics in a formal research setting or equivalent.

• The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with research in psychoacoustics, acoustics, and acoustic bioeffects will be given strong preference.

• Experience in the US federal government system.
