We have a dynamic opportunity for a Network Engineer (Non-Enterprise) to work at our customer site at the National Maritime Intelligence Center, Suitland, MD. In this role, you will function as the network administrator for a single Enclave, consisting of approximately 14-16 small CISCO network devices. This Enclave supports two functional customer systems each consisting of server, database, and workstation type hosts. You will only be responsible for the network infrastructure administration (routers, VPN’s, switches, and physical patching) for a single Enclave.

THE MISSION 
The Network Operations Division (ISC-N31) is responsible for providing network administration and engineering related support for elements within the National Maritime Intelligence Center and locations around the world. This ranges from providing simple patching actions between network components to configuring hardware and security solutions to performing network administration functions. The responsibilities of the technician(s) assigned to ISC-N31 are primarily at the Open Systems Interconnection Layers one through four however knowledge of systems/applications working at the higher layers is imperative to the continued success of the ISC-N31 and its various supported customers.

What Will You Do
•Develop an in-depth understanding of the MDA network and system requirements.
•Coordinate with the functional customers on their system requirements and implement appropriate network configurations.
•Support any installations associated with upgrades of functional customer systems and document any changes in network topology.
•Perform any physical patching and software (CISCO IOS) patching as required.
•Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to CISCO products and develop and implement remediation plans.
•Coordinate outages with functional customer.
•Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for routine and non-routine procedures that assist in the management of the MDA network.
•Perform any required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, IOS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and document various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the network’s accreditation cycle Develop technical refresh plans for the network devices that make up the MDA enclave.
•Assist IA network defense personnel in any investigation consisting of a network breach or practice dangerous to the security posture of the network.
•Isolate and resolve complex network problems associated with the operating system of the CISCO devices within the MDA. 
•Network administration will include the design, installation, operation, application of security policies, incident review and remediation, vulnerability scanning and remediation, and the documentation of current physical and logical topographies and any future changes.

Your Areas of Knowledge & Expertise (job qualifications)
•A Bachelor's degree with 4 or more years of relevant experience; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
•Minimum of 4 years of practical engineering and design experience in DoD communication systems and networks.
Proficiency in the following:

-Configuring CISCO devices using: EIGRP, BGP, SNMP, TCP/IP, OSPF, Spanning Tree, ARP, dot1Q, VLANs, VPN, GRE, IPSEC, subnetting, NAT, access control lists, and various other routing and networking protocols.  
-Writing technical and non-technical papers.
-Remediating vulnerability scans. 

Certification Requirements
•Security+ Certification
•CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification

Security Clearance Requirement
•An active DoD Top Secret/SCI

Travel Requirement
•Up to 10% of travel may be required

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00
