Leidos is seeking a Creative Communications Lead to support our Life Sciences customers and their communications and public relations needs. Based out of our Frederick, MD, office, the Communications Lead will work with customer and corporate leadership to develop short and long-term marketing strategies to heighten awareness across multiple target audiences. The Communications Lead will research, draft, and proofread a range of materials, including social media posts, web content, and fact sheets; develop associated graphics content; coordinate social media content postings; and provide other communications support tasks, as needed.
This position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work with various internal and external teams and oversee individual tasks. Eventual supervisory responsibilities may result and offer career development opportunities. Candidates should have the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and be able to successfully juggle competing priorities. Candidates with proven ability to be flexible, respond to last-minute requests, and complete tasks quickly and accurately are highly desired.
Tasks may include the following:
- Drafting social media content and setting up/utilizing social media tools to assist with efficient posting and analytics
- Working with the graphics/multimedia team and providing guidance in the preparation of social media content and other marketing collateral
- Assisting subject matter experts with the writing and/or editing of articles, fact sheets, video scripts, presentation slides, promotional materials, and other communication products
- Making suggestions for website content improvements
- Assisting with the development of a media training toolkit and media training
The Communications Specialist must be able to write and generate relevant, accurate, and meaningful content about various medical research topics in an objective and informative tone appropriate for various audiences in accordance with branding, messaging, and polices of our various customers in the Federal and/or biomedical sector. Candidates should have a strong attention to detail and be able to carefully proofread content.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
Minimum Experience: Five or more years of directly relevant experience (post-education) providing strategic communications planning and social media support, writing and editing various documents and marketing content for websites and social media platforms. Knowledge of the biomedical and/or healthcare field is desirable. Excellent writing skills and familiarity with AP Style is required and writing examples are requested.
Candidates should be well-versed in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and be able to format documents at a professional level. Experience with social media channels and social media management tools is also expected.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite is desired.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00Covid Guidance
