Leidos is seeking a talented and highly motivated person to fulfill an intern position on our Models Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team for the Unmanned Open Mission System (UOMS) IRAD effort which provides a common solution that can be applied across a variety of future UAS opportunities. The position offers an exciting opportunity for hands-on training with skilled professionals. In addition, the selected candidate will apply skills/theories into real-world problem solving and gain valuable work experience that is rewarding personally and professionally. Successful engineers will focus on solving problems, connecting with other members of the team, and sharing responsibility for making our systems work. The team’s focus is on software and supporting hardware, including integration with hardware and sensors.
Primary Responsibilities
The person in this role will work collaboratively in a digital engineering environment to integrate data from across systems engineering disciplines into a cohesive model and is responsible for gaining real-world exposure to the use of MBSE tools and the technical environment within which MBSE personnel operate.
Learn and apply initial modeling skills under the guidance of an MBSE mentor during definition of products
Learn the language of systems engineering and MBSE in context of creating products
Organize and check information as needed to enable correct import into MBSE Cameo based models
This role will be using Systems Modeling tools to develop the modelling diagrams and use tool’s simulation features to explore and validate the system design.
The system engineering candidate will assist the systems engineering project team in following areas:
Development and management of system design requirements
Development, status, and closure of actions
Collection and reporting of metrics
Assessment of impact of requirements or design change impacts
Support of presentations
Basic Qualifications
Pursuing Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an Engineering Discipline.
Desire to gain industry experience in Systems Engineering
Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks as part of a team with limited supervision
Experience working in a team setting, either professionally or through activities
Familiar with Microsoft Office tools: Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MS Visio, Enterprise Architect, Cameo, Rhapsody or other tools for modeling and construction of diagrams
Familiarity with SysML and/or UML
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy, etc)
Coursework and/or experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration and/or project management, and/or model-based systems engineering
Pay Range:
Pay Range $38,400.00 - $52,000.00 - $65,600.00#Remote
