Mechanical Design Engineer Bedfordshire
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the engineering manager, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design for class leading airport automated checkpoint equipment. You must be able to work independently or part of a team. You will need to be able to manage your time efficiently to be able to meet scheduled dates.
Key responsibilities and essential duties will include:
Mechanical design and GA drawings for each customer, CAD work.
Create detailed mechanical drawings for manufacture using 3D Inventor & 2D AutoCAD.
Maintenance of Vault Pro.
Use stress analysis tools to determine material/design requirements
Support data Migration into MRP systems.
Managing engineering change notes through MRP system from creation to completion.
Compliance to functional safety and standards.
Effective in planning, setting up goals and objectives.
Experienced in managing and handling pressure to meet deadlines.
Supporting manufacturing teams during equipment builds.
Excellent communication and writing skills including the ability to communicate at a detailed level with other engineering teams based on remote sites.
Liaising with Project management, Engineering, manufacturing and Installation Teams.
Liaising with End User / Customer on a technical level.
Continually building relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects.
About you:
A background in industrial automation environment, with good knowledge of detailed indented bills of materials for manufacture would be advantageous, coupled with:
A good communicator.
Organised and able to prioritise and plan to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of configuration management.
Previous experience in all or some of the following areas:
Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D & Vault Pro.
Experience of Solidworks and ePDM preferred but not essential.
Experience in design of conveyors/ baggage handling.
Create/modify layouts using Auto-Cad
Proficient in Sheet Metal design
Experience in guarding design
Experience in automation
Costpoint MRP experience is an advantage.
This is a permanent position, based from our UK based centre of excellence hub in Kempston, Bedfordshire UK.
