Job Description:
The Human Health and Performance Contract supporting the Human Systems Engineering & Integration Division at the Johnson Space Center is seeking an experienced Hardware/Software Systems Engineer for an upcoming NASA exploration project in Houston, Texas.
In this role, the candidate will define and manage system requirements, lead the verification and validation planning and activity, help define the system interfaces, evaluate system characteristics and performance, lead integration efforts, participate in testing of work products and support the lifecycle review process using a model based systems engineer approach. In addition, duties will include risk and opportunity management and leveraging subject matter experts to execute technical strategy. Candidates will also routinely be required to work with innovative technology, design and processes developed internally by NASA and externally by leading technology companies and will perform trade studies and execute down select. As such, a strong understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle process is required. Applicants must have experience with leading technical project teams and project oversight.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years or more of related experience; or 6 years of related experience with a related Master’s degree.
Experience deriving and sub-allocating requirements.
Ability to document requirements, audit design, and define verification requirements.
Experience in software development, software development methodologies and lifecycle.
Hands on experience using Model Based Systems Engineering.
Management of project risks and opportunities along with handling strategies.
Ability to understand and maintain configuration management.
Ability to define and identify technical performance measures and measures of effectiveness including identification of corrective actions to improve or correct performance.
Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a cross program/project and cross disciplinary environment.
Ability to characterize system behavior and assess against expected performance and acceptable behavior.
Ability to assess how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes and incorporating the results into system specifications.
Ability to understand and execute processes and procedures.
Experience with leading technical teams.
Experience designing and leading complex system development which includes both hardware and software configuration items.
Familiar with Aerospace industry work standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Cradle or DOORs.
Experience with Object oriented programming.
Experience with Project oversight, System Testing, Design for Sustainment Methodology.
Hands on experience in all phases of the product lifecycle.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00Covid Guidance
