Job Description:
Leidos has an opening for a Junior System Administrator to provide support for daily operations and maintenance of a federal customer systems that include Linux EC2 instances, S3 storage buckets, Syslog and CloudWatch logging and other AWS services. This individual will be responsible for configuring, modifying and manage Linux servers, including OS patching and upgrading. This individual will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and applications environments. This individual will ensure that all system and related procedures adhere to organizational values for a program supporting a federal customer.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Work with system architects, network engineers, system engineers, software developers and database administrators to maintain/build servers and to perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem analysis, and resolution of issues as they arise
- Participate in all aspects of network and system operations daily including team meeting and troubleshooting calls
- Manage upwards and inform team lead of status and potential areas of concern at all times
- Coordination with business and technology teams on system/software requirements
- Create/update system/software documentation
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Linux administration
- Experience with Linux monitoring/troubleshooting tools like Nagios, top, lsof, netstat, iftop, etc.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP
- Implementation and troubleshooting AWS services like EC2, S3, AWS Backups, VPCs, etc.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies and skills
Desired Skills:
- AWS Certification
- Ansible an/or CloudFormation experience
- Basic understanding of Git and Subversion repositories
- Basic understanding of Cisco ASA firewalls
- Knowledge of IP load balancing and network intrusion prevention devices
- Ability to create/maintain system/software diagrams/documents using various tools including MS Visio or DrawIO
- Experience in evaluating solution alternatives, design and communicating recommendations to the program team
All candidates supporting the HHS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered
Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $78,000.00 - $105,300.00#Remote
