Job Description:
Leidos’ Military & Veterans Solutions Health Group is currently seeking a full-time Cognitive Science Research Project Administrator to support psychology, neuroscience, and physiology-focused human subjects’ lab and field research protocols with the Naval Health Research Center’s Warfighter Performance Department in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will provide project management support for ongoing cognitive science research projects for the Expeditionary Cognitive Science (ExCS) Group and will report to the Program Manager, Principal Investigator (PI), and other assigned study personnel.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
Assist the government Principal Investigator with efforts related to successful conduct of human subjects’ research protocols through:
Management of the ExCS Group’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol creation and submission through timely writing and submission of IRB documents, frequent communication with other ExCS and collaborative team members for IRB modification needs, meeting regularly with IRB administrators to stay current with all research protocols, and regularly attending Science Investigators meetings to maintain best practices for the ExCS Group’s program.
Work to achieve day-to-day objectives for the ExCS research program with moderate impact on the program and the greater Warfighter Performance team.
Work independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments for the ExCS and Warfighter programs.
Set objectives for own area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments.
Assist other professionals and team members with tasks and assignments.
Communicate with and support increased collaborations with ExCS project teammates and researchers at various military commands, academic institutions, and private entities
Maintain monthly, weekly, or daily (as needed) communications with ExCS Group members and collaborators to ensure project timelines and benchmarks are being met.
Communicate technical solutions, practices, and procedures to team members for successful project execution. Identify when issues in project execution arise and engage Principal Investigators, Program Managers, and other required team members to resolve such issues
Develop standard operating procedures for the laboratory and lead staff trainings on ExCS Group equipment.
Draw from prior experiences and conduct thorough analysis tasks and issues in order to provide solutions.
Explain solutions, practices and procedures to others within the ExCS team and the greater Warfighter group.
Write, submit, and manage documents such as support agreements, data sharing agreements, proposals, technical reports, quarterly reports, annual reports, and other command and funding sponsor required documents.
Manage the purchasing, maintenance, and inventory of laboratory equipment and equipment contracts.
Track and manage project milestones, goals, deadlines, and financial benchmarks
Assist with data collection efforts when needed, including setting up for studies, collecting data during studies, cleaning up after studies, and processing the data afterward.
Must be able to work flexible schedules including overnight and on weekends during data collection.
Must be able to work in austere environmental conditions including those associated with cold, heat, and altitude.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, behavioral science or related field.
3+ years of experience in human subjects research; 2+ years in a research project lead role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Proven capability to understand and follow a research study protocol, obtain training and seek assistance when needed, and accurately perform or assess required protocol procedures
Strong written and oral communication skills; experience interacting effectively with diverse groups.
Able to pass a background investigation and obtain a Secret security clearance
Able to work independently and take initiative.
Although working onsite at Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required, due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees may be encouraged to conduct situational telework from their home office at various times, as indicated by the government customer or Leidos leadership.
Must model Leidos values at all times.
Able to travel to local area military treatment facilities and operational commands routinely
Able to travel to approved alternate work site locations for field data collection outside of the San Diego area.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, behavioral science or related field
Previous experience working with the military or DOD
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Active security clearance

Pay Range:
Pay Range $60,450.00 - $93,000.00 - $125,550.00Covid Guidance
