The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Bethesda, MD
Responsibilities
- Manage overall SQL DEV/TEST/PROD environments, upgrades, patches and ensure compliance with all ITGC related requests.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Write SQL queries and reports to extract and manipulate data from multiple relational databases.
- Collaborate with developers, Windows, storage, and network engineers to ensure optimal solution, availability, performance and support of Database platforms and Data integration solutions
- Work with team to create and influence industry best standards for development, governance, and operational lifecycle
- Develop, test, and maintain custom solutions for current and future SQL implementations.
- Create and document standard operating procedures as pertains to DB maintenance
- Apply iterative processes utilizing the agile methodology and a frequent release cycle in support of the various ongoing software development projects
- Design future database enhancements to support maximum interoperability across all components and offices to ensure flexibility in leveraging the system for future applications.
- Initiate planning and performing database administration tasks including:
- Database backup and recovery, Index analysis and maintenance
- Administering SQL Server replication, Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services.
- Database performance monitoring and tuning and optimization, Data conversion / Migration, Administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights
- Monitors patching levels and service packs, ensuring servers are up to date.
- Export/Import Replication, maintaining back up jobs, Creating Linked Server Objects
- Database Mirroring, log shipping and DR procedures
- Support MS SQL databases in Microsoft clustered environments
Educational Qualifications: -
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field of study with 8 - 10 years’ experience
- SQL Database Administration (DBA) certification
Required Qualifications: -
- 8+ years’ experience as DBA working with MS SQL Server, Microsoft SSRS, SSIS
- Experience with resolving issues involving SQL Server integration with applications, working closely with network, analysis, and application teams.
- 8+ years’ experience in designing, deploying, and supporting high availability Microsoft SQL Server solutions on the Windows Server platform.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills are a requirement.
- 8+ years’ experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurations
- 8+ years’ experience with T- SQL and ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance functions
- Strong skills with SSIS and SSRS to create and deploys DTSX packages and Reports
- Oracle DBA, MS Power BI experience is a plus
