Job Description:

Leidos has a 100% telecommute career opportunity for a Field Service Engineer (FSE), that requires about 50% of travel, to work in the greater Harrisburg/ Philadelphia, PA area.  This position could also be based out of the Wilmington, DE, Ft. Meade or southern NJ areas. Must live within the commuting distance of the above mentioned sites.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
This position will support the Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) program as a Field Service Engineer (FSE) for various RF-ITV nodes within commuting distance around the greater Harrisburg/Philadelphia, PA area.  The position could also be based out of the Wilmington, DE or southern NJ areas, and travels to sites in the North and East regions of the US.  This is an opportunity to use your Information Technology experience and troubleshooting skills. In this mission we support the US Army, Program Executive Office Enterprise Information System (PEO EIS) Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS) in maintaining and expanding the technological infrastructure, the largest in the world, which provides in-transit tracking of military cargo as it moves through the Defense Transportation System (DTS).

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
•Must have an active Secret security clearance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to apply in-depth technical knowledge of active RFID wave propagation and understanding of ISO 18000-7 Over-the-Air protocol and collaborate with other SMEs to discuss and validate solutions ideas.
•Design, install, upgrade, replace, and maintain RFID hardware and software to integrate RFID nodes into the local military commands’ networks and ensure interoperability/sustainability.
•Provide independent oversight and responsibility for RF-ITV read nodes within area of responsibility ensuring an Operational Readiness (OR) Rate of 95%.
•Use various reporting/ collaboration/ communications tools such as the RF-ITV In-Transit Visibility (ITV) Portal, Integrated Support System (ISS), the ITV Global Helpdesk and the Daily ITV Report to analyze health of the system and determine solutions for problem areas.
•Respond to system outages, resolve problems within the time specified in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and record all progress in ISS Service Management Ticket (SMTs). 
•Ensure compliance with all local command procedural and policy requirements. 
•Complete Survey Design, Install, De-install, and Maintenance Reports for customer delivery after each event. 
•Configure Field Data Units (FDUs) with a baseline that includes a Windows operating system, RFID applications, Remote Desktop Management software, security policies, and patches.
•Inform team members of new or innovative solution design so these approaches can be implemented across the program.
•Ensure Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) assets are physically secure and accounted for, as well as being accurately documented in the ISS database.
•Responsible for all GFE asset lifecycle activity including requesting, receiving, maintaining, Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA), and retiring/disposal of the assets as required for RF-ITV infrastructure operations. 
•Independently perform Global Operations missions to include site surveys, installations, site de-installations, formal classroom training, and informal military exercise training.
•Provide a ready for Gov’t customer submission deliverable report upon completion of missions. 
•Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations on RF-ITV infrastructure within the Area of Responsibilities (AOR).  
 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelors’ Degree and 5+ years of applicable experience, or Associate’s Degree with 7+ years of applicable experience
•Current driver’s license, own vehicle and able to drive continuously for up to four hours.
•Must be able to climb a ladder or ascend at least 25 feet in a lift (bucket) truck. 
•Possess intermediate computer skills and knowledge such as operating and troubleshooting hardware and software.
•Must possess at least a DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) certification.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Remote Management Software, Windows 10 and Antivirus Software.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Prior experience installing, upgrading and/or replacing RFID hardware and software to include Field Data Units (FDUs), fixed and handheld interrogators, Iridium modems, and various versions of RFID Read and Write software.
•Familiarity with TIPS Read/Write and Savi SmartChain Site Manager software. 
•Familiarity with the MicroFocus (formerly Serena) Solutions Business Manager (SBM) software.
