Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a Unix Senior Computer Systems Engineer/Architect to support GSA platform management services which encompass operations, continuity services, and recovery services for all IT core infrastructure services required to deliver any technology. In support of platform management, the Unix Engineer/Architect support services will include, but not limited to, installation, configuration, system hardening in accordance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security requirements and system back-ups, O/S loading, restoration, and image creation.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with Leads to establish and document Unix Administrator best practices.
Develop and maintain Unix Server Images based on best practices.
Review OS security scan reports to Identify existing Vulnerabilities and steps required to resolve/mitigate.
Coordinate with the Owners and Stakeholders to complete the configuration or patching required to resolve or mitigate the vulnerability within the approved schedule.
Making recommendations for upgrades to the OS and\or hardware based on existing operations, and future needs.
Installation and configuration of monitoring tools for UNIX systems to recognize trends and issues; Investigate root causes, foresee any upcoming risks, identify existing risks and take necessary measures to mitigate.
Investigate and identify the Root causes for open Incidents and make recommendations toward mitigation steps to prevent future repeat occurrence.
Analyzing impact of software changes across other functional units and providing technical guidance and recommendations to mitigate any identified risk or impact to the environment.
Maintaining and reviewing space utilization statistics, forecast future space requirements
Function as Level / Tier III support for analyzing, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions related to Unix OS technical problems.
Provide Apache support for Critical Business systems which would require the ability to Compile new versions of the Apache application for upgrades and deployments. SSL support for renewing and replacing certificates due to expire.
Provide technical guidance and support for COOP/DR Exercises, Projects and Operational Task.
Ticket management for Server Builds and Decommission request, Server Access request and other General point of Inquiry.
Actively participate in the Incident management and change management processes.
Basic Qualifications
24x7x365 on-call rotation schedule
Senior level experience with RHEL and mid-level experience with Solaris and Ubuntu.
ITIL 4.0 Foundation Certification
Bachelors degree with 6+ years of experience. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
Good analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and quickly learn new skills and techniques.
Strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate.
Desired Qualifications:
Certifications , CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer and VMware Certified Professional.
Familiarity with multiple information technologies that include operating systems, databases, server virtualization, cloud-based infrastructure, automation, and middleware with expertise in several of the technologies, including RedHat/CentOS Linux, Solaris, Ubuntu, VMWare, X86 hardware and AWS.
Familiarity with wired and wireless networking hardware and architectures to include Virtual LAN (VLAN) setup and configuration, Virtual Private Networks, routing, IPV4, IPV6, etc.
Familiarity with base OS image creation, server configuration and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Cobbler, Kickstart, Cloud formation, etc.
Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, and load balancer concepts is a plus.
Experience using ServiceNow for ticket management and inventory management.
Help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).
This position requires the ability to gain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00#Remote
