Job Description:

Leidos is hiring a Network Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. An active Secret is required with the ability to get TS/SCI; all work is onsite. Please note this position is initially 40hrs a week for the first month and then will drop to 12-15hrs a week for an undetermined amount of time. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. 

  • Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. 

  • Conducts testing of network design. 

  • Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options. 

  • Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network. 

  • Develop network automation standards, procedures and best practices to meet day to day needs and project requirements.  

  • Responsible for the testing, analysis, implementation and integration of new networking infrastructure, services and features, focusing on the ability to deliver repeatable solutions that can be reused by peer teams and workflows. 

  • Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations. 

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. 

  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks.

  • Understanding of the OSI model and configuration of routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, BGP, and LDP.

  • Education and Experience Level: Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.

  • Years of experience may be used in lieu of degree.

  • Possess a current Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility. 

  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS, or JNCIE certification.

  • Current IA Certifications such as Security +, CISSP, etc.

  • ITIL® v3 or ITIL® v4 Foundation certification.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
