Job Description:

The Configuration Management Support subtask, supporting the Digital Innovation for General Services Administration (GSA) Infrastructure Technologies (DIGIT) task order, is relied upon to account for all IT assets and provide accurate information on IT Service Area components and configurations.  This support provides the sound basis for incident, problem, change, and release management; verifies configuration records against the infrastructure; and corrects any exceptions.

As a Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect Configuration Management (CM) Support, your responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, updating, and implementing configuration items (CI); control configuration baselines, and conduct financial and physical configuration audits.  CM may include non-IT assets, work products used to develop the services, and Cis required to support the services not formally classified as assets.  This includes data interfaces to internal and external service providers, where assets and CIs need to be controlled (e.g. shared assets).

Highlights of Responsibilities:

  • Understand basic concepts, and assist in documenting configuration management processes and procedures
  • Establish new CM processes, policies and procedures
  •  Lead and support the maintenance for the Discovery module within ServiceNow.
  •  Set up meetings with configuration management items (CI) owners to ensure they are following the appropriate policies and procedures.
  •  Responsible for configuration management (CM) to include develop, maintain, update, and implement CIs.
  • Develops or modifies CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
  • Implement CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and accuracy of the CMDB by leveraging dashboards and troubleshooting identification, reconciliation, patterns, and midservers.
  • Understand ServiceNow configuration concepts, and assist in documenting configuration management processes and procedures
  • Utilize external tools (e.g. Bigfix, Vsphere) to store, track, and manage configuration items for reconciliation
  • Serve as the representative for Configuration Management in the Engineering Review Board (ERB).
  • Recommend, design, plan, and implement automation to improve the configuration management database (CMDB) processes.
  • Responsible for configuration management (CfM) to include develop, maintain, update, and implement CIs.
  • Create, establish, and maintain configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.) supporting developmental and operational systems.
  • Support efficient and effective service management processes by providing accurate and timely configuration information that aids decision making (e.g., to authorize change and release and resolve incidents and problems faster).
  • Establish procedures for auditing and verifying the accuracy of CIs, adhering to processes, and identifying process deficiencies.

Contract required qualifications include:

  • Process improvement experience. Ability to identify needed changes to processes and activities and help to implement continuous improvement solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  •  Experience with engineering strategies for new technologies and infrastructure processes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments
  • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems
  • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable

  • Experience with ServiceNow and ServiceNow Discovery, including:
    • Identification
    • Reconciliation
    • Patterns
    • MidServer maintenance

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Configuration Manager
  • ServiceNow Discovery tool experience
  • ITILv4 Foundation Certified
  • Candidate must have BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field with 5-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 3-6 years of prior relevant experience.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
