Job Description:
The Leidos Civil NISC IV program has an opening for a Test Engineer in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing the business needs of clients and stakeholders to help identify business problems and propose solutions and performs a liaison function among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes and information systems. The candidate will work with senior Software Engineers to remediate software bugs and perform multiple test cycles. Selected candidate may advise project team leader and IT management on ways to improve quality of software being delivered to Quality Assurance (QA) for test. The candidate will participate in product design reviews to increase the candidate’s understanding of functional requirements, and product designs. The candidate will be assigned to generate and review software documentation and report to the team lead about inconsistencies that team lead may use to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, or to mitigate risks. The candidate will be expected to manage their work within the time frame set out by the project plan.
*The candidate will be starting 100% remote but will be required to report in Washington DC office at least 2 days/wk if needed based on the customer requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Candidate must become a subject matter expert (SME) on the project processes and requirements with the ultimate goal of becoming the voice of the federal customer liaison on our Leidos team. Candidate will have access to documentation and other SMEs to accomplish this knowledge transfer goal.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Able to analyze and understand complex processes and requirements in a short period. The ideal candidate must demonstrate previous experiences becoming SME in complex projects.
Interacts with the customers to know their requirements, cooperates with designers to convey the possible interface of the software, communicates with and guides the coders/developers to keep track of system development
Experience in managing, tracking and validating requirements. Experience in writing detail functional and nonfunctional requirement.
Formally documents business, functional and technical requirements and tracks any changes to them by producing and using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverable documents, including functional requirements specifications, requirements traceability matrices (RTMs), use cases, workflow diagrams, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and data flow diagrams
Experience using JIRA as tracking tool
In addition, the candidate will have experience with the following activities for a Federal program following a formal System Development Life Cycle (SDLC): - Regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability.
Documenting software defects and report defects to software developers.
Monitoring bug resolution efforts and track successes. - Investigating customer problems referred by technical support.
Deep analytical skills to understand complex procedural problems, identify root causes, and provide solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
Experience with FAA WebOPSS application.
Experience implementing standards, methods and procedures to determine product release.
Experience evaluating or recommending software for testing and/or bug tracking readiness.
Experience installing, maintaining, or use software testing programs
Pay Range:
Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00#Remote
