Leidos has an opening for a Science Planning Coordinator under the Antarctic Support Contract.
The S&TPS Science Planning Coordinator position supports the science planning and implementation staff and manages the flow of science planning data from capture to archiving on multiple platforms. This includes managing information in POLAR ICE, the database platform for USAP science and technical events. Tasking with POLAR ICE includes adding and making information updates to science events to the system, opening SIPs (Support Information Package) for technical and internal events, collection and coordinating review of POLAR ICE change requests, creation of work orders, and changes. The Science Planning Coordinator assists with compiling information and provide technical editing for ASC science deliverables; this includes updates and management of document templates and SharePoint workflows, and compiling the print and electronic versions of the USAP Science Planning summary. The Science Planning Coordinator provides content administration and user interface management for the Science SharePoint site and makes updates to science-related pages on www.usap.gov using a Content Management System. This position also supports continuous improvement and analysis for Science planning and implementation processes.
About the Antarctic Support Contract:
Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:
Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.
Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.
Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.
The Science Planning Coordinator position reports to the Leidos ASC Science and Technical Project Services Planning Manager. Note: Remote work considered; annual schedule can be negotiated in future years.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports S&TPS and other ASC work center staff throughout Research Support Plan and Operational Notice development as well as science support review meetings.
Provides provide technical editing and quality control for ASC science documents, including updates to document templates.
Managing work flows and updates in web based POLAR ICE application and in SharePoint.
Trains and assists S&TPS and functional area on POLAR ICE and successful adoption and application of all technology and tools (template usage, SharePoint, POLAR ICE).
Responsible for providing professional support for users of S&TPS platforms, including staff and grantees.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience; equivalent experience/training in a science or related technical field will be considered in lieu of degree.
Technical writing or documentation experience.
Must be a US Citizen or green card holder to meet contractual requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Excellent written, oral and virtual communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Strong Microsoft Office and SharePoint suite skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with database content management, data management, data analysis.
Familiarity with field work, science support, Polar science support; USAP systems.
Deployment to Antarctica may be required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations, and psychological examination for winter-over positions, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $60,450.00 - $93,000.00 - $125,550.00#Remote
