Job Description:
This Project Engineer position provides support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Power Services Group under the National Air-Space Implementation Support Contract (NISC) with respect to Electrical Distribution System Power Cables program. The successful candidate will:
Provide consultation for compliance with FAA and industry standards and best practices and provide recommendations for solutions in all phases of the system’s lifecycle including: policy, site survey, design and design review, cost estimate, schedule, and implementation. Participate in the development, administration, management, logistics, and strategy of project planning, design and implementation. Provide project management oversight on client’s projects

Knowledge and direct work experience in electrical and/or utility, microgrid and alternate energy sources experience is a must.
Experience with some or all of the following are required: design & installation of underground & overhead medium voltage & low voltage distribution systems, microgrid, PV/wind turbine, NEC & FAA standards for bonding, grounding & lightening protection, short circuit & protective coordination, arc flash hazard analysis & engine generator design and installation.
Knowledge of FAA GNAS facilities locations on the airfield and their function as well as knowledge of airport owned facilities & infrastructure and their function.
Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, NESC and other industry standards related to electrical installation.
The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of FAA systems, technical policies, orders, standards and specifications, particularly FAA-C-1391, FAA-STD-019 and FAA-C-1217.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide oversight for compliance with FAA and industry standards and best practices and provide recommendations for solutions in all phases of the system’s lifecycle including: policy, site survey, design and design review, and implementation.
Represent client in negotiating solutions during all phases of projects when dealing with airport authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Conduct site survey (in person or via electronic medium).
Develop project scope of work, cost estimate and schedule.
Provide project management oversight and coordination throughout the duration of the project.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience.
Electrical installation and/or utility, microgrid, PV and/or wind turbine experience is a must.
Knowledge of FAA GNAS facilities on the airfield, their function and locations.
Knowledge of FAA systems, technical policies, orders, standards and specifications, particularly FAA-C-1391, FAA-STD-019 and FAA-C-1217
Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and other industry standards related to electrical installation.
Strong writing skills exhibited through experience in writing technical proposal and site survey report.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience in maintenance and installation of FAA or DoD electrical distribution system is preferred.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
