Job Description:
Leidos is seeking for a dynamic Apache Solr Search Lead, who can install, administer and maintain existing enterprise search in AWS environment with multiple complex datasets consisting of structured, unstructured and semi-structured data that has multiple 99% and above performance SLA. Successful candidate will design and develop multi-stage complex data ingestion pipelines, deploy, operate in Apache Solr search platform in a cloud environment, performance tuning and optimizing, log analysis, issue resolution and continuous improvement activity. The candidate should possess latest Solr 8.11 skills including but not limited to graph query, streaming expressions, and near real-time indexing. The candidate should have dealt with a large multi-node Solr Cloud with terra bytes of data and millions of documents. The candidate should have strong experience in handling data with XML, JSON, with Java, Python or .Net languages. Experience in integrating other open-source tools such as Apache software ecosystem (Flume, Spark, Kafka, Nutch, Tika, etc.,), AWS services such as Data Lake, S3, Glue, lambda, and other third-party software. Experience in Elastic Search, Machine Learning skills is a plus. Should have experience in DevOps, CI/CD pipeline, tools, programming & scripting experience in Linux & Windows platform. Should possess testing skills of complex applications, automation of processes, and agile development, releases using sprint cycles. The candidate able to adopt to client needs, must be able to work independently and with other teams, guide them, must possess strong written & oral communication skills and collaboration skills.
Basic Qualifications
BS/CS, MS/CS or equivalent
8+ years of general software development experience
3+ years of enterprise search application development and administration experience with Apache Solr 8, Elastic Search or other similar search engines
Should have understanding and working experience in search engine administration Solr Cloud with creating collections, shards, replicas, create schema, analyzers, filters, facets, JSON API, security, managing search and index profiles
Should be able to integrate search engine with a Content Management System (CMS) such as Drupal CMS, database records such as MySQL and from AWS Data Lake
Experience in meta-data extraction, parsing file content, indexing using Apache Tika, and other data cataloging/meta-data tools such as AWS Catalog, Drupal, Semaphore
Experience with web crawler such as Apache Nutch, Storm and integrating crawled data with Solr search
Experience in linguistic processing functions such as lemmatization, spell checking, search relevancy tuning, customization of dictionaries, stop words and synonyms
Experience in core O&M procedures like start, stop, and backup services. and trouble shooting in case of errors/issues with the system
Programming experience in real-time data ingestion pipeline such as Apache Flume, Spark, Kafka, Morphlines, and with AWS services
Software development experience with a highly scalable, distributed, large multi-node environment
Good experience in managing Solr Cloud using Zookeeper, load balancing, backup, recovery procedures
Strong programming experience in Java, multithreaded programming & other OOP languages
Experience in implementing micro services, REST API, data contract with JSON, XML, CSV
Ability to perform code reviews, unit tests, performance tests with Junit, Jenkins, Jmeter
Ability to think through performance requirements for a system and come up with testing scenarios and troubleshoot server runtime issues
Must be detail oriented, multi-tasking with good follow through skills
Ability to work well in a team environment and/or work alone with limited supervision
Other Preferred Skills
Strong knowledge of software design patterns, standards, industry best practices
Clear understanding of client-server functionality and web browser technology, such as AJAX, JQuery, CSS and other web frameworks
Some working knowledge of systems and network administration, program skills in Linux OSKnowledge in AWS Athena, Kinesis, Tableau, iPython notebooks, and Splunk
Experience in open-source development and knowledge of Git, TFS, AWS code commit
Exposure to AWS Data Lake architecture, integration of search components
Working experience on agile projects with quick sprint release cycles using JIRA or other similar tools
Have good exposure to CI/CD pipeline with AWS services and configuration management
Strong desire to learn and continuous advancement in Search, Big Data, Data Science and Machine Learning based applications.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
