Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer Lead for a position as part of a team supporting the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) in Pensacola, FL or Fort Meade, MD. This is a full time position that will be telework friendly, but must be able to be on site in Pensacola, FL or Fort Meade, MD when needed.

The key focus of this position is to assist DISA, the customer, in the deployment of the enterprise-wide, large-scale networking in the AWS Government cloud environment. The knowledge platform includes IT services functionalities (i.e. Splunk) and services migration to the  cloud. This position leverages general networking and AWS cloud functionalities in the following areas:

  • Networking in the cloud environment, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, CDN and VPN, ports with the SSH encryption.
  • Use of AWS supporting services such as Route 53 (DNS), CloudFront (CDN) and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)  for the cloud networking using public and private subnets, internet access and VPC peering.
  • Usage of  databases in AWS: Bucket storage S3,  Relational Database Service (RDS) and Hadoop clusters
  • Security: Access Management (IAM), Security Groups and Access Control Lists (ACL).
  • Application program interface (API) and the external environment/software application.

Primary responsibilities

  • Establishing cloud network information management requirements.
  • Deploying and testing instances in the newly built UCSA cloud environment at the Impact Level 5 (IL-5)
  • Providing input to the evolving documentation of a UCSA Government Cloud Environment Service Leading installation, administration, data onboarding, and general operation of Splunk SIEM instances in the AWS cloud. The operations include log aggregation, parsing, and alert monitoring for the DISA Splunk networks, reporting, custom queries, dashboards, and security administration.
  • AWS-based Splunk SIEM maintenance, including Enterprise Security, Splunk IT Service Intelligence, Kafka, and patch management.
  • Leveraging development and API experience (Python, Perl, XML).
  • Leveraging SaltStack, Terraform, Ansible, and other enterprise automation tool experience.
  • Experience with advanced configuration of Splunk including Indexer Clustering and Search Head Clustering.
  • Plans, designs, and implements network managements systems to monitor, diagnose, control, and measure performance of multiple communication networks. 
  • Identifies, analyzes, and recommends new network administrative systems for entire networks to ensure accurate network inventory and timely implementation.
  • Plans, designs, and implements network managements systems to monitor, diagnose, control, and measure performance of multiple communication networks. 
  • Influences team members, the customer, and vendors to define, analyze, and provide solutions for the customer’s voice, data, and image communications requirements. 
  • The Cloud Network Engineer will provide technical leadership in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical communications solutions having network-wide impact. 
  • Identifies, analyzes, and recommends new network administrative systems for entire networks to ensure accurate network inventory and timely implementation

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Art or Bachelor's of Science in a technical discipline; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Can be waived if approved by the Prime.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience.  Can be waived if approved by the Prime.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Federal Government Network Management is absolutely necessary.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining cloud networks.
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud
  • Qualified IA personnel IAW DoD 8570/DoD 8140, minimum IAT II.
  • Active Secret Clearance Required with ability to obtain a Top Secret
  • Must be a US Citizen

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hands on Cloud Administration
  • DISA Data Centers and On-Prem Networks and Network Enclaves
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret if required by the contract.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
