Job Description:

Leidos is actively seeking a passionate, multitasking, and detailed orientated individual to join our team. This position will be assisting in the monitoring, detection, mitigation, and response to cyber incidents typically part of a Security Operations/Intelligence Center as well as providing technical and administrative support to Leidos’ CyberEdge training program and Leidos’ cyber training range. This intern position will initially support remotely with the understanding that if/when it is converted to a fulltime position the candidate will be expected to relocate/provide onsite support.

Specific operational duties include, but are not limited to; collecting and analyzing intelligence to correlate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures, investigating computer and information security incidents, intrusion and threat hunting support, maintaining proficiency in operation tools, creating countermeasures, and identifying trends in adversary behaviors and vulnerabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of cyber threats, information security, security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and incident handling (NIST SP 800-61). 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on the area/ project team.

  • Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.

  • Triage alerts to identify malicious actors on customer networks.

  • May assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.

  • Communicates with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, other technical resources, etc.).

  • Explains technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the organization

  • Provide technical and administrative support to Leidos cyber training initiatives.

Basic Qualification:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a degree program in a relevant discipline.

  • The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of cyber threats and information security.

  • Motivated self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to

  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.

  • Basic understanding of malware analysis concepts and methods.

  • Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the life cycle of network threats, attacks, attack vectors and methods of exploitation with an understanding of intrusion set tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).

  • Unix/Linux command line experience desired.

  • Familiarity of basic scripting and programming concepts.

  • Familiarity with the VMware and ESxi platform desired.

  • Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study and maintaining proficiency in the technical cyber security domain.

  • Willing to perform shift work.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must include GPA on submitted resume

  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,300.00 - $69,000.00 - $89,700.00
