During PY19-21, Hawai‘i Energy successfully launched programming for grid-interactive water heating (standard electric and heat pumps), commercial smart devices and controls, and commercial battery storage. PY22-24 EOI efforts will continue to focus on the critical emergency demand response efforts needed to offset capacity shortfall concerns on Oʻahu and Maui.

As Hawai‘i Energy enters into the PY22-24 triennial period the Program is seeking a consulting employee to support the growth of these programs. This position will provide research and implementation support across commercial and residential initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Business Solutions Manager, the Energy Optimization Program Implementer will:

  • Conduct market research on energy storage:
    • Review solar and storage permitting data and identify ideal candidates for Power Move program participation
    • Research vendors and installers offering energy storage solutions in Hawai‘i
  • Process program rebates and incentives for EOI initiatives as needed
  • Develop new and/or improving existing project tracking mechanisms to assist with budget control and measuring progress toward program targets for the following programs:
    • Power Move Commercial Energy Storage
    • Power Move Demand Savings Bonus
    • Smart Device Grant Program
    • Demand response-capable guest room energy management systems
    • Residential programs including grid interactive water heaters and smart electrical panels
  • Support forecasting for existing and new programs
    • Report out energy optimization program participation and budget availability on a regular basis Tracking of commitment letters
    • Analysis of demand flexibility potential
    • Conduct market research on emerging grid-interactive technologies that can be deployed in Hawai‘i
  • Support for emerging technology review with industry partners

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Environmental or Sustainability Sciences, or Architecture. Other relevant degree focus may be considered.
  • Budgeting, planning and forecasting experience
  • 2-4 years of experience with sustainability or energy efficiency programs with the demonstrated capacity to understand technical aspects of energy efficiency measures.
  • Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Outstanding analytical, writing, and communication skills; excellent interpersonal and management skills; strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Access and Outlook required; Experience with Salesforce a plus
