Leidos is seeking candidates for Research Neuropsychologist for the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) Clinical Affairs Branch, Dissemination Branch, Research Branch and Mission Support office. TBICoE is a component of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). TBICoE is a division of the Research and Engineering Directorate (R&E). R&E is a Directorate of DHA. DHA is a Federal Program within the Department of Defense (DoD). TBICoE, known previously as the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), is a congressionally mandated multi-site research, dissemination and knowledge translation program, charged with advancing the traumatic brain injury state of the science and clinical standards, established in 1992. TBICoE’s mission is to conduct congressionally mandated traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinical research investigations, surveillance, clinical tool development, and dissemination of TBI education to DoD medical personnel, service members, including Guard and Reserve, and veterans with TBI, as well as their families. This multifaceted approach to TBI is best served with coordination between divisions, offices and network sites to advance the state of the science for TBI.
Qualified Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team is required. Knowledge of the principles and theoretical concepts of brain injury pathophysiology, clinical effects and treatment required. General research knowledge with the ability to develop and implement scientifically sound research protocols required. Ability to effectively author professional, peer reviewed journal articles, manuscripts, research grant applications, posters and research reports required. Ability to select and apply statistical techniques appropriate to the brain injury research protocols) under development and/or application is required. Knowledge of the administrative processes appropriate to the position required. Ability to administer, score and interpret neuropsychological (cognitive performance) testing is required. S/he must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. May supervise other clinical research staff.
Ph.D., PsyD degree in Psychology/ Neuropsychology or a related neuropsychology field with completed a postdoctoral fellowship including clinical research experience –preferably in TBI neuropsychological assessment/consultation.
Up to Date continuing education credit sufficient for both their clinical license and to meet medical facility specific Quality Assurance standards for credentialing.
Attended a formal neuropsychological fellowship in clinical Neuropsychology and skilled in specialized testing and assessment procedure.
Current certification in Basic Life Support and applicable regulatory trainings related to Human Subjects research is required.
2-6 years of experience with administration and interpretation of various neuropsychological tests.
Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care preferred.
Must have and maintain a current license to practice as required by discipline.
Must have and maintain a current license to practice in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands, or any US territory that allows for the independent practice of clinical services. This license must be current and unrestricted (not subject to restriction pertaining to the scope, location, or type of practice ordinarily granted to other applicants for similar licenses in granting jurisdiction).
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and must be able to carry light items – up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to work in an office, clinical and hospital environment. May encounter patients who are confused, agitated or abusive.
Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally.
Must be able to work comfortably with computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Experience with the military or consulting in a DoD environment preferred.
Ability to work both independently and as a valuable team member and communicate verbally and in writing.
