Leidos is seeking candidates for Research Scientist for the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) Clinical Affairs Branch, Dissemination Branch, Research Branch and Mission Support office. TBICoE is a component of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). TBICoE is a division of the Research and Engineering Directorate (R&E). R&E is a Directorate of DHA. DHA is a Federal Program within the Department of Defense (DoD). TBICoE, known previously as the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), is a congressionally mandated multi-site research, dissemination and knowledge translation program, charged with advancing the traumatic brain injury state of the science and clinical standards, established in 1992. TBICoE’s mission is to conduct congressionally mandated traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinical research investigations, surveillance, clinical tool development, and dissemination of TBI education to DoD medical personnel, service members, including Guard and Reserve, and veterans with TBI, as well as their families. This multifaceted approach to TBI is best served with coordination between divisions, offices and network sites to advance the state of the science for TBI.
Primary Responsibilities
Qualified candidates must have knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques; excellent communication skills; ability to troubleshoot technical procedures; ability to work independently and supervise others working for this contract. Excellent collaborative skilled required. S/he will have experience producing data/ manuscripts for publications in peer review journals and/or conducted presentations at professional meetings. S/he will assist in the development and ongoing reporting of study/ program performance using established scorecard metrics. Knowledge in grant writing, proposal development and data analytics.
Basic Qualifications
Master’s level degree. Ph.D., MD or MD/PhD or terminal doctorate degree in related scientific discipline preferred.
Must complete CITI/ HIPAA training.
2-3 years of clinical research experience required.
Prior clinical TBI research experience required.
Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care with neurological disorders and TBI clinical research experience strongly preferred.
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and must be able to carry light items – up to 25 lbs.
Experience supervising junior research staff.
Must be able to work in an Office, clinical and hospital environment.
May encounter patients who are confused, agitated or abusive.
Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally.
Must have experience and proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Ability to work both independently and as a valuable team member and communicate verbally and in writing.
Pay Range:
Pay Range - -The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
