Job Description:
The Senior Manufacturing and Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Quality function at the Bedford facility and report into the UK Quality Manager.
Duties and responsibilities will include for reviewing, compiling, identifying, and resolving issues on the manufacture of complex conveyer systems and control panels at the Bedford manufacturing facility.
The job holder will work with Design Engineering and Quality Engineering (UK / USA) to produce a Quality strategy that will produce products defect free and to specification.
Work with and provide guidance to the Production Quality Engineer / Inspector to identify and carry out strategic inspection and Test on the product being manufactured at the Bedford facility.
Assist with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and with technical stake holders to identify process, build and design issues. This feedback will be used by the Engineering/Product Development teams to improve the products and services to increase customer satisfaction, product reliability and profitability.
The job holder will work with suppliers in order that parts being manufactured are delivered defect free and if not, work with production and suppliers to agree a satisfactory resolution.
The job holder will work with production / design engineering to agree acceptance criteria and help develop suppliers to produce defect free parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be the Key Quality contact on site at the Bedford Facility.
Work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing and Design Quality Teams to identify the key inspection criteria for the finished product, both build quality and Functionality.
Assess performance against estimates and drive appropriate RCCA for variances.
Monitor field product performance and identify trending issues; prioritize based on severity, occurrence, safety and/or cost of each failure mode. Assess performance against estimates and drive appropriate RCCA for variances.
Lead, plan, coordinate, and execute detailed RCCA activities with subject matter experts. Use all quality tools available to drive the best solution in a timely manner. Hold review meetings with Engineering/Product management to present results and drive change.
Actively participate in project meetings and represent the customer needs throughout the gated Product Realization Process (PRP).
Participate in continuous improvement activities and make recommendations to improve the product design and service processes.
Monitor and inspect in line product quality and product functional performance highlighting any non-conformances and trending issues; prioritize based on severity, occurrence, safety and/or cost of each failure mode.
Qualification Requirements
Education and / or Experience :
BSc / HND in Electrical /Mechanical Engineering with relevant work experience.
Experience with working with Design Engineering introducing new designs into production from a quality perspective.
Relevant work experience should be in a manufacturing engineering or quality engineering role.
Broad experience independently managing and leading complex tasks and assignments to successful completion on time.
Experience with working with suppliers and developing suppliers.
Strong Problem solving skills.
Experience with CAPA and 8D structured problem solving to address root cause of failures.
FMEA - Green Belt / 6 sigma experience.
Lean / Keizan - Facilitate Keizan / Lean manufacturing events.
Proficient statistical analysis skills; Working knowledge of Quality Data and Quality Data systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Microsoft office, Word, Excel
Able to travel to up to 10-30% of the time to Suppliers, site installations.

Excellent interpersonal skills and can work well will internal customers and colleagues.
Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
Ability to interpret Technical Drawings both electrical and mechanical will be essential.
Team player with ability to prioritise and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Ability to perform multiple activities simultaneously and independently.
Proficient statistical analysis skills; Working knowledge of Quality Data and Quality Data systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of x-ray systems / conveyer systems
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Microsoft Word / Excel experience
Security clearances must be obtained.
