Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Chief Engineer to support the newly awarded DES program (Defense Enclave Services). As a leader within the organization, you will be expected to collaborate and coordinate with a geographically distributed team while working independently to implement the vision. Setting vision for innovative capabilities and digital transformation, leading test and development teams, quantifying transformation benefits, developing Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), and participation on the Innovation Advisory Panel are essential duties as the Chief Engineer. You will manage development and implementation of new or emerging technologies or processes to enhance mission capabilities. You’ll be expected to learn and apply new technologies in an expedient fashion while taking an active role in shaping the direction of the organization and the solutions. Your immediate mainstays will be Cloud Architecture, Project Management, team leadership, and ensure cybersecurity and ZTA is a core tenant of any transformation recommendation. The successful candidate must be comfortable with being technically challenged on an ongoing basis.
Infuse new technology into the customer environment
Coordinate receipt of new technology solutions provided by Engineering to meet current and future mission needs
Coordinate, conduct and participate in collaboration meetings with, and on behalf of the Government
Manage development and implementation of new or emerging technology or processes
Ensure designs are compatible with the architecture and allocated requirements
Identify system integrity issues and solutions for the full system lifecycle
Develop system release schedules which meet program objectives and present those schedules to leadership and the customer
Effectively lead a geographically dispersed multi-discipline team to achieve the program schedule and all deliverable requirements
Coordinate with Operations Leads and subcontractor teams to effectively build and deploy new system baselines and revisions
Plan, manage, and enforce Customer hardware, software, and process baseline standards
Provide support metrics and reporting to leadership
Assist leadership with planning schedules and ensure proper personnel coverage for support activities
Support the engineering team in the design, integration, and security posture of products; COTS, GOTS, Leidos developed
Manage and deploy annual and out of cycle baseline updates
Develop and maintain documentation and diagrams
Work to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches
Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts
Basic Qualifications
A Master’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of related work experience, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Technical leadership experience (3 years minimum) leading a medium-to-large program supporting design, development, integration, and testing of a complex, multi-component system.
Requires highest knowledge and mastery of highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts.
Ability to mentor and lead a large technical team
Possess strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and verbal/written communication skills
Highly organized
Experience with lifecycle development of large system integration programs following agency standards
Must have the ability to identify innovative solutions to complex, multi-faceted technical problems
Up to 25% travel may be required to support activities at each primary duty location
Strong project management skills
Security +, ITIL Certifications
US Citizenship is required.
TS/SCI required for Position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies
Leadership roles on previous system, hardware, or software integration programs

Pay Range:
Pay Range $139,750.00 - $215,000.00 - $290,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
