Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer in Centennial, CO. The Network Engineer will serve as a mid-level member of the Network Infrastructure team responsible for ensuring the continued operation and improvement of the United States Antarctic Program’s (USAP) network infrastructure which spans three continents.

Primary Responsibilities:
Operate and manage enterprise network and subsystems, including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN Optimizers, wireless infrastructure, and security appliances.
Isolate faults and diagnose system failures to resolve problems in a methodical, thorough, and timely manner.
Deploy network enhancements in compliance with industry best practice security standards in conjunction with USAP policies.
Design and implement engineered solutions for new deployments, enhancements, or modifications to IT systems within the enterprise, in collaboration with senior technical leaders.
Provide 24x7 on-call support, on a rotating basis, to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Install, configure, maintain, and document network hardware and software suites at multiple sites – may involve occasional travel.
Design and plan life-cycle replacements.
Develop and implement test plans.
Comply with the change control process.
Create complete end-to-end engineering diagrams as part of the change control process.
Create and maintain documentation of network systems and services.
Provide technical guidance to Antarctic and other remote-site team members.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members.
Periodically deploy to Antarctica (typically between 6 to 8 weeks in a year) to assist with installations, problem solving, seasonal surge support, or information gathering.
Provide technical expertise to other teams as required.
Communicate clearly and effectively.
Work well with others in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Maintain a safe workplace and ensure safety is the highest priority.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s Degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience with common network topologies, LANs/WANs (Ethernet), TCP/IP protocol (IPv4) and other common network standards.
Experience operating networks using routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, and static routing.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco routers and switches.
Experience with network management applications and related protocols such as SNMP and Netflow.
Experience with wireless networking technologies in the 802.11 protocol suite.
Experience with traffic shaping devices, WAN protocol accelerators and bandwidth management.
Ability to perform fault isolation and resolution in a methodical, thorough manner.
Understanding of and experience applying Information Security concepts to network infrastructure and data transport.
Expertise demonstrating the ability to implement and support enterprise network switched and routed architectures.
Experience designing new systems or upgrades to existing network systems.
The ability to work well with others in a diplomatic and professional fashion.
Effectively able to convey thoughts and ideas using both written and verbal formats.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current & valid Cisco certifications including CCNP, CCDA, CCDP and CCIE.
Knowledge of QoS, IPSec, VPN technologies and best practices.
Experience with IPv6.
Experience contributing to Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Basis of Design, and critical design documents and drawings.
Experience with the configuration and management of Palo Alto firewalls.
Experience with the configuration and management of Cisco ASA firewalls.
Experience with Network Access Control (NAC).
Experience with IP Address space management.
Experience with BGP, EIGRP, and static routing.
Experience with IPAM solutions.
Experience supporting VoIP telephony systems, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unity Connection (CUC).
Experience with the configuration and operation of Riverbed Steelhead WAN optimizers.
Experience with the configuration and operation of Riverbed NetProfiler.
Experience with the configuration and management of VTC systems.
Experience with the configuration and management of Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers.
Experience with data transmission over satellites.
Experience with Zabbix.
Experience configuring a data center to support the unique requirements of SANs and Virtual Machines.
Experience with the unique requirements of operating in Antarctica.
Experience with Project management, cost estimation, cost analysis, scheduling, tasking, staffing, and reporting.
*** Deployment to Antarctica may be required at the discretion of management (approximately 6 to 8 weeks / year). The individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
