Looking for an exciting opportunity to make an impact as a Jr. SOC Analyst?
1901 Group (A Leidos Company) has an exciting Jr. SOC Analyst position located in Windsor Mill, MD with opportunities to work remotely.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Our new Jr. SOC Analyst will support customer Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and work with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to handle security incidents within the CMS Network.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to computer security incidents and conduct threat analysis working closely with your peers and mid and Sr-level analysts.
- Identify and act on malicious or anomalous activity
- Conducts analysis using a variety of tools and data sets to identify indicators of malicious activity on the network
- Perform detailed investigation and response activities for potential security incidents
- Provide accurate and priority driven analysis on cyber activity/threats
- Perform analysis of packet captures
- Ensures all pertinent information is obtained to allow for the identification, containment, eradication, and recovery actions to occur in a time sensitive environment
- Collaborate with technical and threat intelligence analysts to provide indications and warnings, and contribute to predictive analysis of malicious activity
- Create and continuously improve standard operating procedures used by the SOC
- Resolve or coordinate the resolution of cyber security events
- Monitor incoming event queues for potential security incidents
- Create, manage, and handle incident tickets from start to finish
- Monitor external event sources for security intelligence and actionable incidents
- Document investigation results, ensuring relevant details are passed to SOC Lead, Incident Management team and stakeholders
- Participate in root cause analysis or lessons learned sessions
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships/partnerships with the cyber security and infrastructure support teams throughout the Information Technology organization, as well as business units
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
- US Citizenship required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Cyber Security or related field and 1+ years of experience in the Information Technology field (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and OSI layer model
- A basic understanding of windows server domain infrastructure as well as desktop windows administration.
- Working knowledge of Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems and Antivirus Endpoint Solutions
- Working knowledge of log files from a variety of sources, to include individual host logs, network traffic logs, firewall logs, web logs, or intrusion prevention logs
- Working knowledge of diverse operating systems, networking protocols, systems administration and security technologies
- Experience with packet analysis (Wireshark) and Malware analysis
- Experience monitoring threats via a SIEM console
- Knowledge of the Incident Response Cycle
- Must have familiarity with US-CERT Federal Incident Notification Guidelines
- Knowledge of Intelligence driven defense utilizing the Cyber Kill Chain (CKC) and MITRE Attack Framework
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to de-construct problems
- Strong customer service skills and decision-making skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1+ years of experience in a cyber security role
- CompTIA Security + or Network + Certification, CYSA + Certification, CEH Certification
- IT Security/Network Certification such as SANS GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), SANS GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA), or SANS GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- Experienced with tools such as Splunk, RSA Security Analytics and Akamai Web Application Firewall
- Someone with SOC/ CIRT experience at a federal agency

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $78,000.00 - $105,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
