Job Description:

The Leidos Geospatial Systems Software Engineer will support the Army Geospatial Center’s (AGC) Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) ENFIRE Program from the USACE’s Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) located in Mobile, AL, by ensuring ENFIRE system data is properly ingested and exportable from various geospatial portals and architectures. The ENFIRE system is comprised of commercial off the shelf (COTS) and government of the shelf (GOTS) hardware and software that collect and disseminate survey and geospatial feature data used for reconnaissance, military construction, and planning purposes. This data is provided to many end users and must be ingested into various geospatial databases for reach back support. The candidate will work full time from the ERDC facility to support the ingest, manipulation, and transformation of the geospatial data products, while supporting software and architecture development requirements for enhancing the portals and repositories used to store, display, and export residing data. Support for ENFIRE will be the primary focus, however, the candidate may also be tasked by other AGC and EDRC programs requiring similar needs to the reach back repository.

Must have thorough understanding of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) software as well as software engineering and programming for GIS systems in large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting broad base of applications. Will perform software coding and write software documentation to design specifications. Will designs and implement data conversion procedures and perform software and database quality control. Will ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of systems. Demonstrated experience using COTS and GOTS image software in both Windows/Linux operating environment.  Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies; documentation standards; configuration management; DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements; distributed systems, modeling and simulation, and resource utilization assessment. Design and develop QA/QC programs and oversee design and code reviews, database reviews, and other QA/QC activities throughout the project life cycle. Perform detailed software design and detailed database conversion design, and are directly involved in the coding and implementation of the more complex and strategic portions of application software and database conversion projects. Proficient in ESRI product languages, programming languages, Internet markup languages, and other technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop software code for ArcGIS Web Applications using ArcGIS API for JavaScript and Geo-processing tools to support Joint Engineer Common Operating Picture (JECOP)

  • Collaborate within an Agile Development Environment to develop, maintain and support ArcGIS Web Applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military training and a minimum of five (5) years of experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Must have background in Geospatial systems development and integration

  • Developer must follow Department of Defense (DoD) Application Security and Development (ADS) Security Technical Implications Guide (STIG) while utilizing Azure DevOps for code management

  • Required to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security+ IAT II

  • Required to obtain and maintain at least a Secret level or higher Security Clearance

  • 10% travel for yearly Training, attending the ESRI Developer Summit, and trips to AGC

  • Experience with REACT, TypeScript, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS REST API, Node.js, JQuery, ArcGIS Arcade, ArcGIS API for Python Experience, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Web Appbuilder (WAB), Workflow Manager, Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent of six (6) years of training experience

  • Experience working with Army enterprise systems and databases

  • Experience with military audiences

  • Military experience as a Combat or Geospatial Engineer, Cavalry Scout or Military Policeman, SGT or SSG


Pay Range:

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
